SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following:
I Use this appliance only for its intended
purpose as described in this Owner’s
Manual.
IIBefore performing any service, disconnect
the range power supply at the household
distribution panel by removing the fuse or
switching off the circuit breaker.
OpeagIructions
I Be sure your appliance is properly
installed and grounded by a qualified
installer in accordance with the provided
installation instructions.
IIDo not leave children alone—children
should not be left alone or unattended in
an area where an appliance is in use. They
should never be allowed to sit or stand on
any part of the appliance.
IIHave the installer show you the location
of the circuit breaker or fuse. Mark it for
easy reference.
IIDo not allow anyone to climb, stand or
hang on the door, storage drawer or
cooktop. They could damage the range
and even tip it over, causing severe
personal injury.
IIDo not attempt to repair or replace any
part of your range unless it is specifically
recommended in this manual. All other
servicing should be referred to a qualified
technician.
rdCleaing
WARNING!
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Do not operate the oven or cooktop controls if the glass is broken. Food splatter or cleaning solution
may penetrate a broken control panel and create a risk of electrical shock. Contact a qualified
technician immediately should your glass control panel become broken.
IIDo not store flammable materials in
IIDo not use water on grease fires. Never
pick up a flaming pan. Turn the controls
off. Smother a flaming pan on a surface
unit by covering the pan completely with
a well-fitting lid, cookie sheet or flat tray.
Use a multi-purpose dry chemical or
foam-type fire extinguisher.

II
CAUTION:
Items of interest to
children should not be stored in cabinets
above a range or on the backsplash of a
range—children climbing on the range
to reach items could be seriously injured.
I Flaming grease outside a pan can be put
out by covering it with baking soda or,
if available, by using a multi-purpose dry
chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher.
IINever wear loose-fitting or hanging
garments while using the appliance.
Be careful when reaching for items stored
over the range. Flammable material could
be ignited if brought in contact with hot
surface units or heating elements and may
cause severe burns.
ips
I Flame in the oven can be smothered
completely by closing the oven door and
turning the oven off or by using a multi-
purpose dry chemical or foam-type fire
extinguisher.
CnsmeSuport
IIUse only dry pot holders—moist or damp
pot holders on hot surfaces may result in
burns from steam. Do not let pot holders
touch hot surface units or heating
elements. Do not use a towel or other
bulky cloth in place of pot holders.

gasoline or other flammable vapors and
liquids in the vicinity of this or any other
appliance.
SafeyIructions
IIDo not let cooking grease or other
flammable materials accumulate in or
near the range.
IIKeep the hood and grease filters clean
to maintain good venting and to avoid
grease fires.
IIDo not touch the surface units, the
heating elements or the interior surface
of the oven. These surfaces may be hot
enough to burn even though they are
dark in color. During and after use, do not
touch, or let clothing or other flammable
materials contact the surface units, areas
nearby the surface units or any interior
area of the oven; allow sufficient time for
cooling first.
IITeach children not to play with the
controls or any other part of the range.
IIAlways keep dish towels, dishcloths, pot
holders and other linens a safe distance
from your range.
IIAlways keep wooden and plastic utensils
and canned food a safe distance from
your range.
OpeagIructions
I Potentially hot surfaces include the
cooktop, areas facing the cooktop, oven
vent opening, surfaces near the opening,
crevices around the oven door.
IIAlways keep combustible wall coverings,
curtains or drapes a safe distance from
your range.
I REMEMBER: The inside surface of the oven
may be hot when the door is opened.
COOK MEAT AND POULTRY THOROUGHLY…
rdCleaing
Cook meat and poultry thoroughly—meat to at least an INTERNAL temperature of 160°F and poultry to at least
an INTERNAL temperature of 180°F. Cooking to these temperatures usually protects against foodborne illness.
ips
RADIANT SURFACE UNITS
Use proper pan size—select cookware having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface unit
heating element. The use of undersized cookware will expose a portion of the surface unit to direct
contact and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of cookware to surface unit will
also improve efficiency.
ubleshotingT
I Never leave the surface units unattended
at high heat settings. Boilovers cause
smoking and greasy spillovers that may
catch on fire.
I To minimize the possibility of burns,
ignition of flammable materials and
spillage, the handle of a container
should be turned toward the center of
the range without extending over nearby
surface units.
r
T
I Only certain types of glass, glass ⁄ceramic,
earthenware or other glazed containers
are suitable for cooktop service; others
may break because of the sudden change
in temperature.
I Always turn the surface units off before
removing cookware.
I When preparing flaming foods under
the hood, turn the fan on.

or medium high heat settings.
NOTE: We recommend that you avoid
wiping any surface unit areas until they
have cooled and the indicator light has
gone off. Sugar spills are the exception
to this. Please see the Cleaning the glass
cooktop section.
I When the cooktop is cool, use only
CERAMA BRYTE® Ceramic Cooktop
Cleaner and the CERAMA BRYTE®
Cleaning Pad to clean the cooktop.
I Foods for frying should be as dry as
possible. Frost on frozen foods or moisture
on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble
up and over the sides of the pan.
I Use little fat for effective shallow or deep
fat frying. Filling the pan too full of fat can
cause spillovers when food is added.
I If a combination of oils or fats will be
used in frying, stir together before heating,
or as fats melt slowly.
I To avoid possible damage to the cooking
surface, do not apply cleaning cream to
the glass surface when it is hot.
rdCleaing
I Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats.
I Use a deep fat thermometer whenever
possible to prevent overheating fat beyond
the smoking point.
I After cleaning, use a dry cloth or paper
towel to remove all cleaning cream
residue.
I Avoid scratching the glass cooktop.
The cooktop can be scratched with items
such as sharp instruments, rings or other
jewelry, and rivets on clothing.
I Read and follow all instructions and
warnings on the cleaning cream labels.
I Large scratches or impacts to glass doors
or cooktops can lead to broken or
shattered glass.
I Do not operate the radiant surface units if
the glass is broken. Spillovers or cleaning
solution may penetrate a broken cooktop
and create a risk of electrical shock.
T
r
I Do not leave any items on the cooktop.
The hot air from the vent may ignite
flammable items and will increase pressure
in closed containers, which may cause
them to burst.
ubleshotingT
Contact a qualified technician immediately
should your glass cooktop become broken.
I Never use the glass cooktop surface as
a cutting board.
I Do not leave plastic or flammable items
on the cooktop—they may melt or ignite
if left too close to the vent.
I Do not place or store items that can melt
or catch fire on the glass cooktop, even
when it is not being used.
ips
I Do not lift the cooktop. Lifting the
cooktop can lead to damage and improper
operation of the range.
I Be careful when placing spoons or other
stirring utensils on glass cooktop surface
when it is in use. They may become hot
and could cause burns.

OVEN
Stand away from the range when opening the oven door. Hot air or steam which escapes can cause
burns to hands, face and/or eyes.
SafeyIructions
ꢀꢀDo not heat unopened food containers.
Pressure could build up and the container
could burst, causing an injury.
ꢀꢀDo not use the oven to dry newspapers.
If overheated, they can catch on fire.
ꢀꢀDo not use the oven for a storage area.
ꢀꢀKeep the oven vent unobstructed.
Items stored in an oven can ignite.
ꢀꢀKeep the oven free from grease buildup.
ꢀꢀDo not leave paper products, cooking
utensils or food in the oven when not
in use.
ꢀꢀPlace the oven shelf in the desired position
while the oven is cool. If shelves must be
handled when hot, do not let pot holder

OpeagIructions
ꢀꢀPulling out the shelf to the stop-lock is a
convenience in lifting heavy foods. It is also
a precaution against burns from touching
hot surfaces of the door or oven walls.
SELF-CLEANING OVEN
rdCleaing
Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial oven cleaner or oven liner protective coating of any kind
should be used in or around any part of the oven. Residue from oven cleaners will damage the inside
of the oven when the self-clean cycle is used.
ꢀ Do not clean the door gasket. The door
gasket is essential for a good seal. Care
should be taken not to rub, damage or
move the gasket.
ꢀ Be sure to wipe off excess spillage before
ips
starting the self-cleaning operation.
ꢀ If the self-cleaning mode malfunctions,
turn the oven off and disconnect the
power supply. Have it serviced by a
qualified technician.
ꢀ Before self-cleaning the oven, remove
shiny, silver-colored oven racks (on some
models) and all other cookware or they
may discolor.
ꢀ Clean only parts listed in this Owner’s
Manual.

The following information will help you choose cookware which will give good performance on glass cooktops.
About the radiant surface units…
The radiant cooktop features heating
units beneath a smooth glass surface.
SURFACE
COOKING
DRAGGING
NOTE: A slight odor is normal when a new
cooktop is used for the first time. It is caused by
the heating of new parts and insulating materials
and will disappear in a short time.
Never cook directly on the glass.
OpeagIructions
NOTE: On models with light-colored glass
cooktops, it is normal for the cooking zones to
change color when hot or cooling down. This is
temporary and will disappear as the glass cools
to room temperature.
The surface unit will cycle on and off to
maintain your selected control setting.
It is safe to place hot cookware on the
glass surface even when the cooktop
is cool.
Even after the surface units are turned
off, the glass cooktop retains enough
heat to continue cooking. To avoid
overcooking, remove pans from the
surface units when the food is cooked.
Avoid placing anything on the surface
unit until it has cooled completely.
Always use cookware.
Do not slide cookware across the
cooktop because it can scratch the
glass—the glass is scratch-resistant,
not scratchproof.
OFF CENTER
I Water stains (mineral deposits) are removable
using the cleaning cream or full-strength white
vinegar.
I Use of window cleaner may leave an
iridescent film on the cooktop. The cleaning
cream will remove this discoloration.
I Don’t store heavy items above the cooktop.
If they drop onto the cooktop, they can cause
damage.
Always place the pan in the center of
the surface unit you are cooking on.
rdCleaing
I Do not use the surface as a cutting board.

recommended
T
r
As long as the cookware is covered
completely with porcelain enamel, this
cookware is recommended. Caution is
recommended for cast iron cookware
that is not completely covered with
smooth porcelain enamel, since it may
scratch the glass ceramic cooktop.
ubleshotingT
Aluminum:
heavy weight recommended
Check pans for flat bottoms by
using a straight edge.
Good conductivity. Aluminum residues
sometimes appear as scratches on the
cooktop, but can be removed if cleaned
immediately. Because of its low melting
point, thin weight aluminum should not
be used.
ips
Glass-Ceramic:
usable, but not recommended
Poor performance. May scratch the
surface.
CnsmeSuport
Copper Bottom:
recommended
Copper may leave residues which can
appear as scratches. The residues can be
removed, as long as the cooktop is
cleaned immediately. However, do not let
these pots boil dry. Overheated metal can
bond to glass cooktops. An overheated
copper bottom pot will leave a residue
that will permanently stain the cooktop
if not removed immediately.
Stoneware:
usable, but not recommended
Poor performance. May scratch the
surface.
Pans with rounded, curved, ridged
or warped bottoms are not
recommended.

The type of margarine will affect baking performance!
Most recipes for baking have been developed using high-fat products such as butter or margarine (80% fat). If you
decrease the fat, the recipe may not give the same results as with a higher-fat product.
Recipe failure can result if cakes, pies, pastries, cookies or candies are made with low-fat spreads. The lower the fat
content of a spread product, the more noticeable these differences become.
rdCleaing
Federal standards require products labeled “margarine” to contain at least 80% fat by weight. Low-fat spreads,
on the other hand, contain less fat and more water. The high moisture content of these spreads affects the
texture and flavor of baked goods. For best results with your old favorite recipes, use margarine, butter or
stick spreads containing at least 70% vegetable oil.

Oven Shelves
All oven shelves may be cleaned by hand
with an abrasive cleaner or steel wool.
After cleaning, rinse the shelves with
clean water and dry with a clean cloth.
Gray porcelain-coated oven shelves may
remain in the oven during the self-
cleaning cycle without being damaged.
The shiny, silver-colored oven shelves
may remain in the oven during the self-
cleaning cycle, but they will lose their
luster and become hard to slide.
It will be necessary to grease all oven
shelf side edges with a light coating of
vegetable oil after cleaning them by hand
